Film Passion

Yo! What’s going on viewers? I’m a bit late this week, I know I know, but I am here. Work was booming and we gained a handful of large projects this week.

I want to share another one of my passions with you all today. It is film.

I am currently in a Film Studies class and it has expanded my knowledge on cinema tremendously.

I now have a new-found appreciation for other genres and time periods of film such as late 70s film, noir, and silent films. Before the class, I would have never enjoyed these types of films.

Here’s a list of a few films you should check out if you’re interested and have a bit of time to spend.

  1. The Royal Tenenbaums
  2. Battleship Potemkim
  3. Ponyo

Come back often to catch up on our members’ blog posts sharing insight on their passions.

Also, check my classmate’s blog out at https://blissfulbinge.wordpress.com where they share their interests and one’s experience with her pregnancy.

Fashion

Hello, today I am here with the topic of fashion. Fashion has been around for many centuries while dressing to impress is always a good sign of displaying great ability to dress. There are many things that make fashion go great such as matching a dark top with a light color short or jean with shoes. It is amazing how people blend their styles together because it makes the fashion interesting. Great style influence others to dress better or feel great about themselves in a positive way because it is outstanding when great ideas collaborate for a great dress day! ❤

The weather is nice FINALLY

I was finally able to go ride in shorts and a t-shirt instead of bundled up like usual. It was still kind of chilly but it got much better the longer I biked, and I even ended up with a bit of a tan at the end! Left at noon and the only goal I had was to bike until I felt like I was done. Seeing as there wasn’t a puddle in my shoes or rain on my sunglasses to make the ride suck, I was able to get a nice 37-mile ride in!!

And luckily for me, it seemed that everyone decided to take different routes cause for about 80% of the ride there were no cars. Why can’t every ride be this nice?

Adele

Set aside from EDM, Adele is one of my favorite artist. Although 99.9% of her album is about her ex, she connects to her audience so well. Relationships are overrated and typical now a days, but we all just want to find love someday right? And when we encounter something we do not agree, we instantly become fishy about the relationship. Adele’s music has been a help not only to me, but to many people because her music impacts everyone in several ways: emotionally, physically, or psychologically. I would listen to her during tough times because it’s a person that I truly love even though I haven’t met her; if I ever did, it would be tears of joy! Send me to AN ADELE CONCERT!!!

My Top 5 Sneakers of All-Time

Every sneaker head has their list. It’s their list of shoes they must have in their collection before they die. Some shoes just have such a large impact on our lives or take us back in time, much like a song, that we must own it to experience that time again. It’s literally like putting a time machine on your feet.

For me, my list starts with

5) Nike Free Run 2+ “Cool Grey”

nike-free-run-2-cool-grey-2

This sneaker is so important to me. It reminds me of my freshman year in high school. This shoe showed me the power of having a nice, sought-after, pair of shoes. I received many compliments on this shoe, and then months later saw much of my class buying the other colors of Free Run 2+s.

4) Nike Air Max 90 “Infrared”

dsc_0806-3

I’ve always loved the silhouette of the Air Max 90. I remember how many people I saw in high school with this pair. I was so jealous. They were extremely hard to get. Nowadays, you can find them relatively cheap since they’ve restocked.

3) Nike Air Foamposite “Galaxy”

galaxy-foamposite-box-5

Taking it back to high school once again, this shoe is VERY impactful in my sneaker “career”. This shoe was around $2,000 resale once it released. I remember watching the news and seeing that people were getting into fights at malls over this shoe. It was crazily hyped. There was one kid at school who had a pair and he wore them. The school made him take them off and switch shoes for his own safety. This made me realize that having nice sneakers can make you  a target.

2) Adidas Ultraboost 1.0 “Chalk”

chalk-ultra-boost-adidas-restock

These shoes are a part of my new hype on the “Boost” material offered by Adidas. The Ultraboost shoe is one of the comfiest in the game. They are so versatile and can be worn in so many situations. Currently, the chalk Ultraboost is no longer produced and is selling for around $550 (via StockX). This is one I MUST have in my collection.

1) Nike Air Jordan 1 “Bred”

maxresdefault

Named after their black and red color way “Breds” are one of my grails. My friend was able to grab a pair after the release for resale price. They’re not a crazy price, but they’re hard to find in new condition. These shoes are one of the most respected out there. When my friend and I go out to the mall and I’m wearing my Yeezys (worth more) and he’s wearing his Bred’s, he gets about three times the amount of compliments that I would. They are just a very well made shoe and are surprisingly comfy. These will most likely be my next purchase.

What’s your Top 5?

One stop pot

IMG_5675Hey all it’s Tuesday , and I’m happy you joined me this week. My  name is Margo and you can find me here every week on Tuesday with a fresh tasty meal idea for you.  I really enjoy cooking with my family, but that’s not always an option. Some days are so busy, all I can do it throw all the ingredients into one pot and wait for the outcome. We all enjoy seafood in my family, so I decided to do a crab boil.

You will need the following ingredients:

crab

corn

sausage

shrimp

potatoes (small red ones)

You will need crab boil bag or seafood seasoning. You want to fill a large pot half full of water, add the crab boil seasoning along with the potatoes. Cook the potatoes for approximately 25 minutes before adding the remainder of the  ingredients except for the shrimp. Cook for another 25 minutes, add the shrimp cooking another 10 minutes. You are now ready to eat. Enjoy

Hint* keep the pot covered

Until next time

Bon Apetite

Hype ruins the sneaker industry.

This past weekend the new Adidas Yeezy 350 Boost dropped. This was named by sneaker heads the “Zebra.”

As always, Yeezys are difficult to “cop” or to check out with online. It’s what makes the shoe special. They are released in limited numbers and are highly sought after. For most Yeezy V2s such as the “Belugas,” the resale price is around $700-800.

The week before the “Zebras,” the “Breds” were released. It dropped with higher numbers and people were able to check out whether through the app, website, or partner websites with Adidas. Their resale is around $500.

yeezy-red-black

Zebras immediately resold for $1200. Once people were able to check in with their friends and feel out how many were able to “cop,” the prices rose. This is the highest and quickest jump in Yeezy price in history. They are now selling close to $2000 daily. People are robbing and threatening people who own the shoes to sell them. It’s crazy. All of this hype is ruining the sneaker industry.

Adidas Yeezys are made with a product named “boost.” It is a soft cushioning foam that is in the outsole of the shoe. It makes it feel like you’re walking on clouds. Any shoe that they incorporate this technology into, is sold out. The hype for boost is the new craze. It’s taken away some of the pizazz of the Jordan brand.

I remember a time where Yeezys resold for $350-400 all day. It was a different time. Now there are so many people interested in the shoes that we all must pay to play. I’m not int he position to drop $2000 on a pair of shoes, but I will still continue to try and check out for retail price of $220.

Overall, people need to relax on the boost. Try some other shoes. There are many great silhouettes out there that look great on feet. Quit hyping every Yeezy up. You’re ruining the sneaker industry.

#WomanCrushWednesday

la-janelle-monae-photo-20170226

Janelle Monáe is not only talented musician but also an actress in two very important films that came out in the last year: Hidden Figures and Moonlight. Her films have been nominated and awarded during this award season so we have seen a lot of her in the past months. We usually see Monáe rocking a powerful suit but she has been looking just as powerful in her gowns for the many award shows she has attended; she has been the one to watch during this award season for her evolving style.

Last Sunday, Janelle made her big Oscar’s red carpet debut in an ornate Elie Saab Haute Couture gown that will take your breath away! This angelic dress was made for a princess because of it’s many layers of tulle, crystals, diamonds, sequins, and beading. Every princess cannot forget her tiara and Janelle didn’t forget hers, which was by Jennifer Behr. She wore Brian Atwood shoes and a Jimmy Choo clutch.

Her skin was absolutely glowing and her brows were all point. Her makeup looks a sultry bronze look to showcase her natural beauty and to not distract from the gorgeous gown. Her bronzy glow really complimented her gown as it enhanced the sparkly embellishments. Instead of a classic red lip, Janelle wore a neutral lipstick.

Every day, Janelle Monáe is beautiful but she slayed extra on Sunday and because of this, this goddess is my #WomanCrushWednesday! If only they made prom dresses like this but actually affordable when I was in high school!

Congrats to the cast and crew of Moonlight!

Dedication Rides

During the 4k for Cancer a ride is dedicated to someone every day.

Screen Shot 2017-02-16 at 09.47.06.png

It’s a reminder as to why we’re doing this. Why we’re pushing ourselves past our limit each and every day. We do it for those who can’t and we do it for those who have worked hard battling cancer than some of us ever will.

At this current moment in time, I’m only dedicating my training rides to donors but, if you want me to dedicate my ride to someone affected by cancer during the actual trip, go ahead and leave a comment. 🙂

Music

Signing in with Sunfield.

They say music is another language. As I started encountering more personal issues in my life, I noticed that music has partake a huge part in my life. Music is like a drug, it makes me feel happy, calm, and collective. Music has put me in a dark moment that usually turns into a brighter day because of the way it speaks to me. Usually when I am able to relate to the music, I get super emotional because it speaks right through me. Music has been such a good source of protection in many ways. However, the most significant way of it being effective is during the situation.
Signing off, Sunfield Lee.
