Every sneaker head has their list. It’s their list of shoes they must have in their collection before they die. Some shoes just have such a large impact on our lives or take us back in time, much like a song, that we must own it to experience that time again. It’s literally like putting a time machine on your feet.
For me, my list starts with
5) Nike Free Run 2+ “Cool Grey”
This sneaker is so important to me. It reminds me of my freshman year in high school. This shoe showed me the power of having a nice, sought-after, pair of shoes. I received many compliments on this shoe, and then months later saw much of my class buying the other colors of Free Run 2+s.
4) Nike Air Max 90 “Infrared”
I’ve always loved the silhouette of the Air Max 90. I remember how many people I saw in high school with this pair. I was so jealous. They were extremely hard to get. Nowadays, you can find them relatively cheap since they’ve restocked.
3) Nike Air Foamposite “Galaxy”
Taking it back to high school once again, this shoe is VERY impactful in my sneaker “career”. This shoe was around $2,000 resale once it released. I remember watching the news and seeing that people were getting into fights at malls over this shoe. It was crazily hyped. There was one kid at school who had a pair and he wore them. The school made him take them off and switch shoes for his own safety. This made me realize that having nice sneakers can make you a target.
2) Adidas Ultraboost 1.0 “Chalk”
These shoes are a part of my new hype on the “Boost” material offered by Adidas. The Ultraboost shoe is one of the comfiest in the game. They are so versatile and can be worn in so many situations. Currently, the chalk Ultraboost is no longer produced and is selling for around $550 (via StockX). This is one I MUST have in my collection.
1) Nike Air Jordan 1 “Bred”
Named after their black and red color way “Breds” are one of my grails. My friend was able to grab a pair after the release for resale price. They’re not a crazy price, but they’re hard to find in new condition. These shoes are one of the most respected out there. When my friend and I go out to the mall and I’m wearing my Yeezys (worth more) and he’s wearing his Bred’s, he gets about three times the amount of compliments that I would. They are just a very well made shoe and are surprisingly comfy. These will most likely be my next purchase.
What’s your Top 5?
